Hourly Range: $32.36

POSITION SUMMARY: (Essential Functions of Position) **This is a temporary role (Time frame to be determined.)** Responsible for providing treatment involving assessment of physical limitation/disability and its effects on the student’s ability to access his/her education under the direction of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:
Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance

Minimum Experience:
Completion of Occupational Therapy Assistant Internship

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs):
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Good interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with co-workers, employees, consumers and  families
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Ability to use computers, electronic devices, etc. as required for treatment
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Comply with training requirements and regulations from the Office of Children and Family Services
• Good knowledge of occupational therapeutic principles, including sensory integration methods and techniques
• Working knowledge of the construction and care of occupational therapy apparatus and equipment
Required Certification/Registration:
• Licensure by the New York State Education Department as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Current COTA certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Must maintain valid licensure and certification and complete any continuing competency programs mandated by the New York State Education Department and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.

Physical Requirements: This position requires daily contact with students. Work involves the ability to transfer and lift students and equipment of approximately 50 pounds. Work may include continuous
walking or standing, manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity to communicate verbally with students, bending stooping and overhead lifting.

Working Conditions:
• Work involves regular exposure with children and families
• Job requires a great deal of standing for long periods of time
• Ability to physically assist and help lift students
